The Balkan countries in Europe have become very popular holiday destinations in the last few years. Although those countries are highly affected by the current economic crisis, the tourism industry is booming. Countries like Greece, Bulgaria and Croatia are nowadays focusing on producing bigger and better holiday resorts to attract more customers. After all, who doesn’t like relaxing at the beach and resting in the sun? It’s the perfect way to forget about the work stress.

Greece

If you love history and traveling, then you should go to Greece. Greece has many interesting historical sights and beautiful islands. One of the many great places to see is the Minion Palace of Knossos on Crete. Fans of Greek mythology should know that this was the place where king Minos was keeping the Minotaur in a labyrinth, later he was killed by Theseus. Another sight worth visiting is the city of Delphi. The ancient ruins of Delphi are one of the most historical places in Greece, including the temple of the sun god Apollo and it’s theatre. Croatia is not Balkan country!

Balkan is a part of Europe that was under Turks-Ottomans (Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia…..)
